Committees

Case Competition

The Case Competition committee is formed around the goal of hosting Wharton Alliance’s Annual Diversity Case Competition. To that end, members who join the Case Competition committee will find a past diversity-related business decision to inspire and ground the case in challenging decisions facing business executives in the modern corporate climate. In association with this case, the committee is tasked with marketing the competition to potential participants from Wharton and American undergraduate institutions more broadly. While the sequence of events change depending on year, the Case Competition committee must execute a day complete with sponsor and participant registration, breakfast, corporate sponsor judges, lunch, a keynote speaker or other lunch entertainment, a career fair, and closing ceremony.

Corporate Relations

The Corporate Relations Committee is focused on maintaining Wharton Alliance’s professional endeavors. Internally, members of this committee will learn how to network and execute professional outreach on behalf of the club by maintaining the club’s connections to corporate sponsors. Within the broader club, the Corporate Relations Committee will also organize individual events, such as coffee chats with professional firms, and large-scale professional events, such as panels with LGBTQ+ individuals currently working in the business world. The Corporate Relations Committee is also presented with various LGBTQ+ focused job opportunities that they distribute to other members of Wharton Alliance.

Management

The Management Committee is formed to help create a broader sense of community within Wharton Alliance. To form stronger bonds, the Management Committee will host various social events to foster club-wide relations throughout a typical semester. Smaller events may include coffee chats amongst individual members and dinners, and larger events could include the annual Senior Send-Off. In addition, the Management Committee is also tasked with developing merchandise for the club, contingent on a given year’s available funds.

Operations

The Operations Committee’s overarching purpose is to organize all Wharton Alliance non-social events as well as Wharton Alliance itself. To that end, the Operations committee will keep accurate records of current and past Wharton Alliance member rosters and a comprehensive alumni database. The committee also serves the secretary function required by Wharton Alliance by recording attendance and taking sufficient notes during Executive Board meetings and GBMs. In the past, the Operations committee has also organized volunteering excursions and has planned Wharton Alliance’s Annual Alumni Dinner outing.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee will endeavor to expand the recruitment of underrepresented minorities for Wharton Alliance and promote diversity within the club itself. The committee is responsible for Wharton Alliance’s recruiting efforts such that all underrepresented minorities on campus are given the chance to apply through methods such as specific marketing, LGBTQ+ organization partnerships, and encouraging individuals to apply. Post-recruiting, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion committee will host various diversity-focused events internally (diversity education of the body, partnering with ops for a special diversity-based event, etc.) and externally (partnering with other affinity organizations) to promote the importance of diversity within Wharton Alliance and to the University of Pennsylvania community.
